2 main types of UV light
- UVA - Involved in accelerating skin aging
- indirectly damages DNA by stimulating free radical production
- UVB - more damaging type (more carcinogenic), infiltrates epidermis and causes DNA damage

- UVB - basal epidermis
- UVC - superficial
