Seborrhoeic keratoses are common, benign epidermal skin lesions seen in older people, most commonly found on the torso and forehead
Risk factors:
- Age >50 years
- White skin
- family Hx (autosomal dominant)
- UV exposure
Features
- Slightly raised, flat surface lesions
- have a 'stuck-on' appearance
- multiple lesions
- painless
- May cause pruritis
- large variation in colour from flesh to light-brown to black
- keratotic plugs may be seen on the surface
Management
- reassurance about the benign nature of the lesion is an option
- options for removal include curettage, cryosurgery and shave biopsy
