Benzodiazepines can be used in the management of patients following intoxication with amphetamines or cocaine. Alpha-blockers can also be used to manage cocaine intoxication. The benzodiazepines will serve to prevent seizures.

Disulfiram is a drug used in the treatment of chronic alcoholism. It inhibits the enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase and therefore produces unpleasant symptoms such as a headache, flushing, nausea, vomiting and blurred vision amongst others. By producing these symptoms, disulfiram discourages the intake of alcohol.
