Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (also known as pseudotumour cerebri and formerly benign intracranial hypertension) is a condition classically seen in young, overweight females.

- obesity
- female sex
- pregnancy
- drugs (if occurs secondary to medication, then it is not idiopathic)
- combined oral contraceptive pill
- steroids
- tetracyclines
- vitamin A
- lithium
PC
- headache worse in the morning, last thing at night, with valsalva
- blurred vision
- papilloedema (usually present)
- enlarged blind spot
- sixth nerve palsy may be present

- LP - raised opening pressure
Management
Conservative:
